Temperature

The two most widely used scales are  Fahrenheit and Celsius.  The Fahrenheit scale was developed by physicist Gabriel Fahrenheit from 1708 to 1724 .  It is mostly used in the United States, while the Celsius scale is use throughout the rest of the world.  The Celsius scale was developed by  Swedish astronomer Ander Celsius (1701-1744) in 1741.

There is one more scale, the Kelvin scale  introduced in 1848 by Brirish scientist William Thompson, Lord Kelvin (1824 – 1907),  This scale is used primarily by scientists.

To convert degrees F to degrees C, subtract 32 degrees from the F temperature and then multiply by 5/9
