The research program was spearheaded by Paul E Ruch, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) alumni and former head of the Meteorology Department at the California Institute of Technology (CALTECH) along with his son, Paul E Ruch II, a University of Los Angeles (UCLA) trained meteorologist who was also a US Air force Weather Officer. As a result of their accomplishments within this field, both Paul E Ruch and Paul E Ruch II received the coveted fellowship from the London Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce (RSA).

The fundamental object of this research was to develop methods to prepare accurate and precise long range weather forecasts. The resulting DRYDAY® forecasts tell you when to expect storm-free days.

DRYDAY® forecasts are reliable - usually about 80% of the forecasts will be correct. In each month a few forecasts will provide 90% or greater accuracy.
